A 17th Century country inn, now a Greene King pub, in a picturesque village location. There is a large car park, unmade, which adjoins an outside seating area next to the river, and there is more seating next to the pub itself. There are two main bar areas. The drinkers' bar is the smaller of the two and is on the river side of the pub. This has a tiled floor, a brick chimney with a woodburner, a couple of tables and some bar stools. The second bar is in a more modern extension at the back, up a couple of steps, and is less atmospheric, partly because the wood laminate floor makes it feel a bit like a scout hut. There were a few drinkers in when we visited, and the staff were pleasant. Food is standard pub grub, freshly sourced in part and reasonably priced, and they offer breakfasts most days with tea and coffee. Dogs were welcomed, and water was provided. Three ales on were Abbott and Yardbird, plus a guest, Exmoor Ale. Also available were John Smith's, Guinness, Carlsberg, Stella, San Miguel, Peroni, Inch's Cider and Thatcher's Gold. Definitely worth a stop for lunch or a few pints in the evening.
