E TA left this review about The Mariner's
Previously Nanna Moon's Cafe Bar, this Edwardian sea-front town house has been very lightly converted to form a cafe/bar/pub catering mainly for grockles. The sunken garden at the back is enclosed an only reachable down narrow stairs inside the house, making it effectively a pram-free, child free zone, and it's very private. The ground floor has been opened out to form a single room, the bar counter at one side and a solitary table in the bay window. There is a token collection of nauticalia scattered around and a good view of the harbour. No real ale, just Sharp's Atlantic on keg accompanied by Thatcher's Gold and Haze, Guinness, Carling, and Madri. It appears to be family run, rather retro and haphazard, with an energetic landlady and rather more apathetic and unfriendly male hovering around, dealing patiently with a bunch of entitled, irritating Londoners who were demanding just about everything done for them and moaning constantly. There dog biscuits on the bar, while the human menu as somewhat limited, rather like what you might expect when dropping in to a 1970s aunty's unexpectedly. Tea and coffee were also available. Not really worth the effort.
