E TA left this review about Grog
This historic shop now houses a cross between a micro and an off licence. The front part has tables and chairs, a fake fireplace and a selection of board and card games, while the back part is raised and has a very small counter and fridges full of various beers and ciders. There is also a limited wine selection. There are stairs leading down to a cellar which is used an an 'events' room. A hole in the floor has a transparent cover which gives an aerial view of the cellar including early foundations, possible Roman in origin. There is currently no draft beer of any description, but there is a wide range of bottled and canned beers including a good selection of Belgian beers. I had a bottle of Dorset Rogue on this occasion, which at £4.00 a bottle compares favourably to prices of bottled beers in nearby pubs. The landlord was friendly and cheerful, and he is optimistic about improvements including installation of some draft beer pumps. It was an enjoyable visit, but the lack of draft beer is a big downside.
