This venue was at some point known as Chapter 12 before becoming B12 Bar & Kitchen, which permanently closed at the beginning of January 2025. After three months of closure this is now Mira, a Turkish restaurant, bar and lounge that I visited on Saturday evening a couple of weeks ago. The restaurant is at ground level with large front windows that allow passers-by to see into the dining tables that were almost empty, which I found surprising as it was the day after the official Friday night launch. I think the owners were also expecting it to be busier because there were more staff than customers. In this venue’s previous incarnations I believe the bar was accessed via steps from the now restaurant, but this has changed with entrance being up a flight of stairs accessed via a door found on the other side of the adjacent Post Office to the right. These steps lead up past a kitchen to a sparsely furnished L-shaped bar that sits above the Post Office below. Booths runs across the rear wall from left to right where there’s a pool table in the right rear corner. In the front right is a raised stage that has been turned into a photo opportunity area with a fake flowered backdrop wall with neon sign that says something illegible. The counter on the left wall supports premium keg, I was actually surprised when two pints came in under a tenner. A doorway to the side of the counter has steps that lead down to balcony seating that overlooks the aforementioned restaurant. There is also more seating on this level towards the rear where two unisex cubicles seemed to be the only toilet facilities for this very large bar. The restaurant building is very interesting, it feels like an old delivery area where maybe a crane of some sort would lift deliveries from the ground to the workshops on the first floor. Everything else about this place is meh and it isn’t on my list of places to revisit.
