No cask. Keg offering of Brixton Reliance Pale Ale, Moretti, Heineken and Inch's cider.

Small hotel bar at the front of the hotel on Eastbourne's seafront. Rectangle along the front, with an unusual green carpet and green patterned carver chairs and wing back armchairs serving small regular tables. The bar counter is along the rear wall facing the windows onto the seafront, all opened on my visit creating a nice breezy space. There was a green studded leather sofa in the space between a couple of the windows facing the bar counter. Absent the bar counter and beer taps you could experience the feel of an upmarket care home. There is some decent patio furniture on ground level outside on a colourful ceramic tiled area on the way to the entrance to reception.

I tend not to review hotel bars anymore because even tough many say that non-residents are welcome, they are usually aimed directly at the residents. This used to be the case with the Alexandra Hotel where a small dingy downstairs bar used to stock a couple of mainstream keg lagers. During my latest visit, on the Friday afternoon of Airbourne, I discovered that this bar has been closed and a larger bar has been opened adjacent to reception up the main steps. Heineken Silver, Brixton Pale, Birra Moretti and Inch’s Cider were all available on keg. The service was polite and there were actually people in the bar creating some atmosphere. I think that I would still only visit here during Airbourne, but it is a good spot for watching the planes with a pint away from the throng of the beach over the road.
