A small independent hotel on the outskirts of the City, away from the tourist bits but close to the ring road for easy access. Mainly residential, but the bar is open to non-residents and is used by a few locals. The bar is a long lounge bar with a conservatory at the back through which you enter from the car park. The furniture is mainly plastic G-Plan style sofas and chairs, not that comfortable but good enough for a few beers. Sitting down is definitely the best option though as there are no bar stools and the barman we met was a miserable individual, not at all engaging. The atmosphere was further dampened by Adele on the jukebox, belting out her latest song-to-slash-your-wrists-to. There was one ale on, GK IPA, which was in decent condition, and there was one dry handpump. On keg were Amstel, Moretti, Foster’s, Guinness and Strongbow. Food is a choice of restaurant or bar snacks, all reasonably priced, plus there is an occasional carvery. Fine if you’re staying here and want a nightcap, but not a venue of choice.
