This is the place Starbeck has needed for a good long while, a friendly place with good beer. Formerly a shop, it’s a pretty tight space but they’ve managed to use it well with the bar along one wall and tables scattered around. Don’t miss the cool floor where it looks like you’re about to stand on beermats or pump clips only to realise they’re under a transparent resin! There’s a terrace out front for the warmer months (and smokers). Four cask beers, often from Roosters, Daleside and Turning Point, with a Roosters keg font, a couple of ciders, a small fridge of Turning Point cans and a range of other cans and bottles in a larger fridge. Conversation is encouraged with low volume background music, except when an act is playing, which seems to be fairly regularly in the evenings. Seems like a solid community pub, albeit with limited opening hours

The additional front outdoor space is now flourishing with flowers, courtesy of a regular customer, is a real summer haven. This micropub mostly serves locale which is good, but for a local ale the prices are far too steep for me and it would be rather an expensive stay. The other strange idea the owner told us on our visit, was the early closing times at 9pm daily. The owner explained that most trouble from people was after 9pm, plus last orders is at 8.30pm.
Four cask on handpump Harrogate Brewing Co Nidd Mild 3.7% at £4.70, Daleside Bitter 3.7% £4.60, Roosters Assassin 4.3% £4.80 and Turning Point Stuck in a Metaphor 4.3% £5.00.

A shop conversion with a cheery welcome, and properly decorated for a change, with a few tables, high stools round the edges and lots of space. A couple of tables are also provided on the pavement at the front. The four cask ales were Wensleydale Living the Dream, Bosuns Brew Tempest and a couple from Roosters, with a couple of craft keg also. Perhaps a bit lacking in character, although this might develop, but a fair place for a pint.

Opened 7th April 2023, it’s a long thin shop conversion with an L shaped counter down the left side. Lower tables and chairs at the front space and vertical drinking to the side also with a shelf and a few stools. Also on the right hand side are shelves of cans and bottles for the non-draught drinker. There are four pulls with local brews, on this occasion from Turning Point, Harrogate, Roosters and Yorkshire Heart plus wines and spirits behind the counter but no keg beers of any sort. It takes card payments only, but there is a Camra discount of 10%. It has industrial or school room type lighting but it’s not out of place. There’s a single unisex loo at the rear. Not a lot of decor, a couple of old typewriters and pictures above the bar back, but it’s a great addition to almost pub free Starbeck and another micro is scheduled to open nearby later in 2023.
