Nailmaker Tap 1, Barnsley

This is now Nailmaker Brewery's other tap - though as this is numbered 1, it must be number 2 that is the "other" one. No matter, this is a smallish shop unit with a stripped back feel to it. There are bits of bare brick, some plain white tiles and some wallpaper which is a sort of abstract rust or flecked copper random pattern, quite striking. There are four hand pumps on the stylish bar counter, three from Nailmaker and one from Acorn. I saw the same beer as I had had less than an hour ago at the GBG-listed Nailmaker Tap 2, and it was clear why that one had got the rosette and not this. Where theirs had been a pretty good NBSS 3.5, this one was a just about ok 2.5. And this is a less comfortable space to be drinking in, too. Though another day, another visit, might find me liking this one better. Who knows?
