Will Larter left this review about Abbey
I was pleased to see this one open just before noon, as I wanted to use the toilet and I wasn't going to be put off by any "toilets are for customers only" notices - I was going to become a customer. There were three in there already, but it turned out one of them was the landlord, having a well earned rest and a pint. He roused himself to come and serve me, while I disappeared in the direction of the facilities. This is a nice looking pub, clean and sparkling in the warm sunshine. No real ale, but I made do with a half of Guinness while explaining why I was taking photos of pubs in Liverpool. The landlord told me he used to run the Prince Arthur in Walton, a heritage pub that was on my to do list. This pub is just across the road from Stanley Park, and I could see the Everton stadium along the road to my left, and then walking through the park I passed Anfield on the right. Apparently it gets busy here on match days.

Single room corner pub which is popular on both Liverpool and Everton matchdays, albeit much nearer to Goodison Park.
No real ale is available. But it is a good stopping off point if in need of refreshment before a game. Often has fans spilling out onto the pavements prior to a match.
