A reasonably posh hotel with a bar open to the public, straight ahead from the front door with a dining room to its left and a function room to its right, a wedding was due to happen during my visit. The main bar is rather sparsely furnished with a single round table and five chairs, next door just off the entrance vestibule is a long room with more tables and chairs. The sign by the road says sports bar and this room has a screen and machine so that counts I guess. The servery has a counter which faces into the main bar and the function room, three handpulls with local beers from Taylors on here. The keg choices are located on three T-bars, nothing very exciting but a mix of stuff including Saltaire Jute and some latin lagers to go with the Carling, Guinness and cider. My Boltmaker was unexpectedly very good considering I was the first punter of the day and it’s an hotel bar, it was also much cheaper than expected for a gaff like this at £4.50 a pint rather than the £5 plus I assumed.

Clearly once *the* house in these parts, and built in 1611 according to WhatPub, but now with housing estates built on former parkland and the main road roaring past outside, a new life as a hotel beckoned. But a bouncy castle shaped like a pirate ship? Surely that wasn't part of the plan. Three hand pumps according to Camra, but I didn't investigate. Maybe it's quieter in winter months.
