Blackthorn _ left this review about The Growler Bar
This pub is actually the tap room and shop for the adjacent Fuller’s brewery, and although the name of the pub does not appear on the outside of the building, a small piece of wood panelling next to the bar counter is inscribed with the name.
As with many brewery taps, the aesthetic is somewhat industrial, with concrete screed on the floor and much of the available floor space being taken up with pallets of product for sale, as well as floor to ceiling ‘fridges all along the left wall should you wish to buy your take-away beverages ready chilled. That said, there was an exposed brick wall to the right was quite attractive, a roof lantern made it light and airy and glass windows at the rear overlooked the Pilot Brewery, which I assume is used for experimental brews or one-off’s. The bar counter was curved and wood panelled and presumably was intended to look as though it had been made from old beer barrels. The overall effect was quite pleasant, and not as stark as many such places. To the right is a shop selling all sorts of Fuller’s merchandise, including three bottles of vintage ale from the 90’s – a snip at a mere £400.
Beers on tap were all their own as would be expected, and on this occasion consisted of London Pride, ESB, HSB and Hot Tropic. Ciders were denoted as Gold and Raspberry & Elderflower, although the board did not specify their provenance – going on the bottles available in the shop, I assume it was Cornish Orchards.
