Not a traditional pub, rather the social centre for the West Dorset Leisure Company’s Highland Park, a vast holiday Stalag near the coast, with great views across the surrounding countryside. Martin’s Bar has a children’s play area outside, while the interior is an extensive set of rooms, mainly full of dining tables, but with central bar area with comfy seating. There are various serveries offering ice cream for humans and dogs, a carvery counter and a main bar. Four handpumps on the bar, but only one ale on, Tribute, which was in average condition. The keg range included Guinness, Moretti, 4 from Thatcher’s, Korev and a few others. There is a pool able and a bank of gaming machines. The staff were surprisingly friendly, but there was no real pub atmosphere. It’s a decent enough place to stop for a break while passing through the area, but I wouldn’t make an evening of it.
