One of a number of small breweries in the local area, this is a little off the beaten track and looks very unlike a pub with a steel roller shutter door in amongst a row of similar units and only minimal signage outside to indicate it’s presence. We visited as part of the East Bristol Brewery Trail, and although the tap room is open at other times, the range of beers and facilities that we found may be greater than is usually the case.
The industrial look continues inside with a bare concrete floor, painted breeze block walls and a corrugated iron roof. A sofa was off to one side which looked a little incongruous in amongst all the racking, and there were some fairy lights strung from the ceiling, but other than that there was little in the way of any creature comforts, although the bar counter with some turned woodwork on either end was rather surprising. An additional small bar to the left had a small selection of barrel stacked up on stillage, and a small selection of merchandise was displayed above the bar.
Cask beers on this occasion were Time Lapse, Full Circle and High Plains whilst the keg options were Micro Machine, Kokomo Weekly, Cosmo Sour, Weiss City and Throwing Shade. Overall this was a bit too industrial for my liking with no real concession to comfort, but it’s no doubt a good place to sample the brewery’s wares and makes up a useful crawl in conjunction with other nearby operators.
