The Oculist has some seating by the entrance and then a long bar counter that runs up the right-hand wall. Opposite the bar is a is a seating area to the left and a flight of stairs lead up to what I imagine is more seating and some dancing space as this place closes at 2am Fridays and Saturdays with regular advertised DJs. Neck Oil, Cruzcampo and Amstel were on keg alongside five offerings from Laine Brewery. I went for their Word which was decent enough. The Photobot booth, dance music and student crowd mixed in with stag groups turned me off and I was glad to leave. I will add that they boast of the best roof garden in Brighton, so maybe I will have another look if I’m passing in the day.
