Got train from Victoria to Falconwood to check off last remaining venues I have never been to in SE9 previously. This place has had a few incarnations and I may have been to one of them before I kept records of pub visits. Current incarnation is a quite smart craft beer and cocktail bar. It is a long rectangle stretching from a small outside seating area, but on a busy road so not attractive to occupy I would say. A nice bit of early evening sun for those occupying today though. Inside are some high tables inside the glass frontage along each wall with high stools before you get to the bar along the left wall. There is a ledge opposite the bar where you can sit on high stools facing a mirrored if you fancy staring at yourself for the duration. The back bit beyond the bar has some assorted low tables.
Keg beer only. Nothing hugely special but I do like Meantime Prime Pale on tap. Also the increasingly seen Jute from Salt that I also enjoy. Also present were Chieftain IPA, Staropramen and its baby brother Pravha, Madri, Aspall cider (an increasing trend to be seen as the keg cider offering and Guinness.
I really liked this place. Yes, the keg beer offering could be better but it was a most enjoyable visit. Had a good chat with the chap managing the venue about beer, upcoming Euro’s, foreign holidays in sunny Med locations so made for a really enjoyable visit.
