Mikado Pheasant looked closed as I approached, but the door opened when I pulled it. The bar faces the entrance and some seating, where the barman was sitting with an aged local watching The Chase, or some such quiz. To the right some steps lead up to a pool table and in the left side of the pub is a larger bar that had been turned into a Santa’s grotto. I expect that the big man was due for a visit over the festive period. The bar supports standard keg and there are a couple of unused hand pumps. This is a community pub with a location that dictates very little passing trade.
