Oggwyn Great left this review about The Aviator Hotel
Originally built in 1934 as a Clubhouse for the local flying club then extended in 1935 as an Officers Mess for the R.A.F Training School , during World War 2 the Aerodrome served as a Bomber repair centre (Wellingtons) and a small number of Lancasters were built here .
The Aviator Bar is open to all , based in the old Officers Mess(the hotel is in a seperate building) if you like Art-Deco you will love it here , its everywhere all very aviation themed with loads of interesting photos and memorbilia dotted about although it is starting to look a bit tired, the bar is to the left as you enter the building through the reception area , lots of different areas to choose from all overlooking the airfield and the large beer garden and patio , 5 handpulls on the bar , 2 on with Buttcombe Original and a well kept Brooklands Bitter .
Not a must do , but if you like planes , history and Art Deco its worth a visit .
