Slightly off the main street, this is a modern bar in what looks like an old kirk. As described in detail below – hunting lodge style wood-heavy with a mezzanine level and quite nicely done. Three cask, from the wall via an electric pump. I tried one of these – a middling Red Kite – NBSS 2.5, before switching to the dark and hefty keg offerings of Hibernator Oatmeal Stout and Thornbush - Black Isle X Tomatin Distillery. The former was too fizzy and not memorable but the latter was far more palatable. I’m mildly surprised that Black Isle have pitched a bar in this small town, I suppose they think there are enough tourists and walkers to make good profits in the summer months as it was pretty quiet on our late evening visit to the extent that the staff called time early. 6.5

A modern bar situated in an old building which has had many uses ,including at some stage a chapel.The interior has a long bar to the left,refectory and long high tables opposite with a square area to the left infront of the open pizza kitchen and below a large mezzanine seating area.The kitchen was turning out quality pizze with lots of local ingredients ,well worth £13 if you are hungry.
The bar sported three real ales from Black Isle on my trips Red Kite (NBSS 4),Yellowhammer (NBSS 4) and Goldfinch while on keg are 16 indie beers from Black Isle including a sparkling cider.These options are oftern well up the ABV scale and I had an outstanding third of Send in the Heavies ,9.2% Imperial Scotch ale and a very decent Spider Monkey 5.2% American IPA .There are a further 16 whiskies and 20 gins and other spirits.
The bar is at the end of the West Highland Way,so walkers will use it,it's also popular with the young and there is an upbeat,lively atmosphere with very engaging bar staff.
A must visit in Fort William.
