This is the most restaurant like Toby Carvery I’ve ever visited, in fact the bar area is four stools along a beer shelf opposite the drinks serving counter on the right-hand wall. There are four unlabelled silver keg fonts alongside Peroni, which was the same set up as the Harvester on the other side of the main road. All the seating in the rest of this square building is for dining. A carvery runs along the rear wall so there is a strong smell of roast dinner. With festive songs playing in the background there was a Christmas vibe even before they’ve put up the decorations, so I imagine it gets busy in here with unadventurous work parties throughout December. During a recent quiet midweek evening visit I stood at the counter for a couple of minutes while the shift manager took a complaint call. Once he’d finished, he then walked past me with no acknowledgement that I was standing at the bar. He then started a conversation with a member of staff about an unrelated topic, so after five minutes of standing there like a lemon I decided to leave, walking past them both again with no acknowledgment that I was there. So, no drink here, but I saw enough to give it 1/10.
