A lot quieter this time but still well-frequented by locals and respectable trades at 4.30pm on a Thursday. Goes back further than expected with a sunken rear extension into what was probably a lovely beer garden that is now mainly a car park. There's a small discrete room with a pool table which is accessed externally. Decor is well maintained but rather bland. Three ales on, Abbot, Bass and a weird guest stout from a brewery I hadn't heard of, on offer at £3.85. I went Bass (obvs) and got a pretty decent one (NBSS 3.5).

GBG listed place. Was unfortunate to visit on a very busy Friday night and it was standing room only. Not much to write home about, décor-wise, relatively bland. Failed to note what I had nor the NBSS score, but it certainly wasn’t enough to elicit high praise or high dudgeon. Stonegate-run. I won’t drop a score, in the context. Unrated
