Upstairs then downstairs to get to this one if you enter from the main road by the entrance shared with the hairdresser. Once inside it really feels like a cellar with white washed walls and a low ceiling. The counter is to the right taking up half the length of the split area, there’s a separate public area to the back. The brewery is to the left off the main bar. Four pulls on the counter and ten keg taps on the back, three pulls with Horsforth beers and a raspberry Porter from an unnamed brewery on the separate one to the side. Mostly Horsforth kegs but two were from elsewhere, DMC and Hofmeister, possibly not the Courage brand of yore. There’s a fridge of canned and bottled goodies to one side. A mix of seating choices in the two areas and they have a collection of board games for you. Lots of small photos and tap clips are stuck in various places, there’s a few signs, blackboards, certificates and newspaper cuttings as well as screens, a weird games machine and a piano. I got served with an ok beer but in a bloody jug even though they have straights, I’d prefer to be asked. It smells “underground” as well rather than brewery or pub. Toilets at the bottom of the stairs up to New Road Side and the door to the car park / patio.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Horsforth Brewery Taproom
Inconspicuous micro-brewery and taproom, sharing a front door with a hairdressers but located down a steep flight of steps. Just three tables between the bar counter and the brewing equipment room, plus more seating normally available in the side room (although it was temporarily occupied by the local sword-dancing side practicing their art when I visited) and out on a small patio terrace. There were two of their own ales - Yeehaw (£4.50) and Nightcrawler - on the three handpumps, plus an interesting selection of craft beer from the row of ten keg taps on the bar-back.

Access from street level is down some steep and narrow stairs, but although the brewery and bar are in the basement of the building, there is level access from the rear through a small patio with tables and chairs. There are three hand pumps on the bar, with just two beers on: Horsforth American Pale and One-Winged Angel English Bitter. Ten keg taps (nine beers available) and I went for Horsforth Icarus 6.0%, a blood orange pale ale. Apparently there were several crates of blood oranges in this brew, which was well made, refreshing but neither too cold nor too gassy, though it has to be said, not very much like a beer. The place is enthusiastically run, and seems to attract a crowd who like its friendly and informal atmosphere. The brewery itself is seen in the room opposite the bar, and to one side is a room that has been nicely done out, with a few framed photos for sale on the white painted walls. Some cans are for sale, plus some bottles of distilled beer.

Although there is yet no signage the bar is open with the entrance around the back.
