E TA left this review about The Pub
Expecting another lounge bar, or maybe a teenage creche, this was a pleasant surprise. The single bar has been formed by conjoining two ground floor rooms, connecting them with a ramp. The bar counter is at the side in the front half. There are various seating arrangements throughout, including a pair of rather battered Chesterfields at the back by a contrived fireplace, and while it isn’t really a micro as such, it does have some of the features. It’s a modern pub in a good way, hints of café bar but without the pretention. The two barmaids were welcoming, friendly and helpful, while the customers wee a complete cross-section, all well behaved and enjoying a pleasant atmosphere. Ales on were Butcombe Original and Otter Pale Ale, on tap, plus 6 boxed ciders. Also on tap were Wildsider Cider and a premium lager. A great addition to Wellington’s somewhat limited pub scene.
