Graham Coombs left this review about The Golden Beam (JD Wetherspoon)

A veritable art deco barn of a place in a former church, with the main room containing the bar and lots of high tables, with quieter areas at the front, upstairs and at a lower level. Outside there is a substantial patio area to the side. A good place for serious drinkers though, subject to the usual Spoon's vagaries. The beer range seemed fair enough, although with one of their regular beer festivals in progress it was difficult to tell what is normally on.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Golden Beam (JD Wetherspoon)

Impressive former church converted by Wetherspoon in 2021. The first seating area you find is in a large lobby but the main bar beyond is light and airy, benefiting from nine large glazed panels in the high ceiling. Further tables can be found down a flight of stairs beyond that (with the organ pipes repurposed as a fireplace), in a couple of side rooms and also at first-floor level. Ruddles, Doom Bar and Abbot plus Phoenix West Coast IPA, Exeter Darkness, Hop Weaver from Nethergate (£2.97) and the local Kirkstall Pale Ale available from the two banks of six handpumps. Overall, nicely done.
