Hidden behind an expanse of caravan sites, this pub was a pleasant surprise to find. It sits in its own grounds with a large garden at the front. You enter at the side, into a seating area, through which you pass to get to the bar. There is a larger dining room at the back. The décor is a mix of fake timbers and swirly carpets, which make it feel much like the prefab pubs elsewhere in this area, and a pleasant real fire place. There are several gaming machines around the pub, and the whole thing together feels like a 1970s throwback. Food is basic pub grub plus roasts on Sunday, and there is a strong smell of garlic throughout. They also offer takeaway food for the caravan sites. One ale on, Cellar Head Session Best Bitter, which was in good condition. A good enough place to get a beer if you happen to be here, or if you’re following the cycle trail, but not a destination in its own right.
