Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Miller's T'Ale
The first and only micropub on the Isle of Man, it currently has very limited opening hours. I arrived to find it empty, apart from the owner on a Thursday evening. The 5 real ales on were quite adventurous for the island - Timothy Taylor Landlord Dark, Wilde Child Breakfast of Champions, Cellar Head Session Pale, Only With Love The OG & Front Row Pride. Even more impressive was the range of 6 boxed ciders behind the bar - Healey's Flattler, SeaCider Hardcore, Harefield's Cooper's Barrel & Becket's Bold, Lilley's Rhubarb Cider & Broadoak KB.
It's a typical single room micropub, which did begin to fill up with a local crowd and their dogs before I left. Before they arrived, I had a good chat with the owner who admitted to struggling to make ends meet. As such, I got the impression that the pub will not survive much longer than the summer. So, if you plan to visit, do so sooner rather than later.
This is a great addition to the island's pub scene. Although I suspect that it's not the kind of concept that locals have taken to and I'd bet that a micropub in Douglas would be a safer bet. Here's hoping to a successful summer's business, along with an extra boost during TT week.
