Tresco’s only pub is an old house – possibly 18th Century – which has been extended. It’s also the only GBG pub in the Isles of Scilly. There is a pleasant garden with plenty of seating and a barbecue area, sheltered and agreeable even in wet weather. There is a large bar open to all, though the rest of the pub operates as a hotel and restaurant. The bar is decorated with various artifacts including bits of driftwood, which all seems a bit out of place but doesn’t stop it being a pleasant, welcoming place to visit. Ales on were Betty Stoggs, Tribute and Proper Job, all in excellent condition, which justifies the GBG entry. Regardless of the paucity of pubs here this is an excellent venue which is definitely one of the highlights of a visit to this island.
