The grills over the doors made it look shut, but seeing life we tried one and it opened so we were in. It transpired to have been reserved for a wedding party earlier in the day and they were still catching up. The front area is exposed to the outside air, while the long narrow interior is cosier and features racks of rather interesting tins and bottles for sale but is not always open. Three handpumps offered Batemans Triple Hop, Luda Tropic Thunder IPA and a Lilley's cider, with a stack of boxed ciders also. Prices of the tins are at usual silly levels. Very different but worth a try.

A unique venue, a bottle shop and on-license (the latter being Friday-Sunday only) with a beach bar vibe inside an odd double-depth interior. It was cold and mildly uncomfortable on my early evening visit in late April but I imagine on a sunny summer afternoon it's the business. The classic party choons were up full whack. Enthusiastic service with three cask and a plethora of cider on offer, alongside said pre-packageds. My half of Brass Castle Flux was great, an easy NBSS 4 and the local CAMRAs agree that it’s GBG standard. Fair play to the owners, it’s somewhere a bit different. Not sure what I’d make of it on a wet February though.
