This is a St Austell tied house very close to the Railway Station. As noted below it's an old school local consisting of a small single room that is part carpeted and has TV screens, a darts area and a pool table. I have to say the dart board and throw were both pretty poor. There is a large poster of the Beatles from the late sixties by the entrance to the Ladies toilet.
The bar has three hand pumps with one unused and Tribute (£3.40) on the others. I thought this was disappointing for a GBG listed pub although the Tribute was in good condition.
I wasn't overly impressed with this one but it serves a purpose for the local people of the town.

A basic backstreet St Austell outlet with a small and simple open-plan interior. Varnished wood banquettes for the austerity feel, with a pool table off to the left rear. Couple of TVs switched on showing golf and cricket, with old 60s and 70s hits playing through the speakers. Three pumps at the bar with Tribute (impressive nick for late morning on a hot day, pub opens 11am) and HSD. A solid local GBG-listed boozer that has few (if any) pretensions. The pub’s sign also made me smile.

The Brass Monkey is down a side street opposite Teignmouth Railway Station so is handy for a quick pint before/after travelling. The bar is situated on the right hand wall and is stocked with standard draught whilst supporting three hand pumps. St Austell is written on the hanging sign and pub frontage so I wasn’t surprised to find that the ale options were Tribute (x2) and HSD. Opposite the bar is some conventional seating in an area that is broken up by a large pillar in the centre. This pillar is used to advertise the weekly Tuesday quiz that starts at 21:00, Karaoke that occurs every Friday from 20:30 and happy hour that takes place every week day from 17:00 until 18:30. A meat raffle is also advertised for Sundays, but this was the only hint I saw of any food being available.
To the left of the pub is another room that houses a pool table, dartboard and a plasma screen, although I didn’t spot any Sky Sports advertisements. There was some random music playing at a reasonable volume off the jukebox.
It wasn’t very busy in here during my recent midweek evening visit, but I go the feeling that this small pub can get very cosy at busier times. The service was very friendly and the convenient location means that I will revisit here if I ever find myself in Teignmouth again.
