Set in a rather visually arresting location in the shadow of the viaduct, this locals pub is off the main drag so is not found by the tourists. Looks handsome from the outside and it’s a fairly traditional place inside which looks like it had a refurb 40 odd years ago and has been kept well since, two rooms connected by a small knock-through. Cosiness via a pub carpet and tidy wooden servery that looks late 1960s/early 70s in origin. Pool and darts. Two cask over three pumps - Dartmoor Jail and Doom Bar - the latter of which was surprisingly good (NBSS 3.5). Felt like a pub of yesteryear and a pleasant surprise.
