Brainy Pool left this review about Kobenhavn

Scandi influenced bar with the plain geometric decor you would expect and umpteen quality beers in craft and keg. my view of this place is that it knows what it wants to be and goes for it, and that’s fine even if it isn’t entirely to my taste. It’s not a pub as such (beer cafe seems a good description) but everything is very pleasant, including its nice setting in a covered arcade. Also an early opener all week, which is good to see.

Located in one of Halifax's arcades, Kobenhavn is a Scandinavian-themed bar that feels quite smart and modern. It is split over various levels with plenty of seating both inside and out. Outside there is bench seating and this was fairly popular on our visit, as a Beatles cover band was performing in the arcade.

It looks like beer turnover is good here. A sour beer festival was being promoted for next weekend. However, on this visit, cask options were Brewsmith Gold, Brew York Jolly Green, Deya General Nebulous Thoughts, Thornbridge Jaipur Noir, Zapato Oro & Northern Monk Patrons Project 45.01 The Endless Hum Dogfish Head Irked Rye Session IPA. Craft beers were apparently Deya You Got It!, Zapato Beaucoup Weisse, Polly's Cherry Sour, Duration/Baron First Light, Fierce Cafe Racer: Cairngorm Edition & More Passion, Vocation Death By Elderflower, Drop Project Shifty, North Atlantis, Huyghe Floris Framboise, Wiper & True Milkshake Stout & Verdant People, Money, Space, Time. Ciders were Lilley's Mango & Rhubarb Ciders & Pulpt Flare.

Whilst craft beer seems to be the main source of income here, I opted for the Jaipur Noir. Jaipur has never been one of my favourite beers, despite many raving about it. I found the Noir version a slight improvement. But it still wasn't to my taste.

Given its central location, this bar will always prove popular and so it proved on our Saturday afternoon visit.

A modern craft led bar with a rather minimalist interior with some good cask beer on offer but my head was turned by the very interesting keg offerings and the Stone IPA was not only my sole keg beer of the day but best overall beer of the day. It's maybe not the place for a prolonged session but if you're into your beers it's a good place to stop for a couple.

København – Danish for Copenhagen – where décor is scanty, the theme Scandi, with 24 keg offerings and six on hand pull in very modern surroundings.
A decidedly un-Nordic Brass Castle Best at £2.25 a half was very dull or just plain lacking in condition, delivered by the Autovac or ‘Return Tray’ method which recycles beer overspill.
Worth a look to inspect a Norse, but then move on.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Kobenhavn

Modern cask and craft keg bar in the Western Arcade. Light modern furniture and minimalist décor as the Scandinavian name would suggest in the various small seating areas on slightly different levels. Also has a share of the canteen-style tables 'outside'. Six interesting ales on handpump, including my Jericho from Tapped Brew Co (£4.40) and a great range of keg beers from a total of 24 taps on the bar-back.

There was plenty of seating space both inside and out at this venue. The bar area was over on the lefthand side and had a white granite counter top with a patterned tile bar front in two plain colours, along with a green coloured metal framed pot shelf over the length of the counter. Six white porcelain and polished chrome handpumps featured in the centre of the bar, serving all the beers listed below.
On the craft beer front I'd just missed out on a sour, however there was a poster behind the bar advertising a sour fest called Pucker Up 18th - 21st July. That would be fab.

This is hardly a micro, but a spacious bar over three different levels and then a sizable outside drinking area under the cover of the Westgate Arcade roof.
Its internal decor is minimalistic Scandinavian, hence the name.
Six ale hand pumps on the front of the bar and then a very impressive 24 tap craft beer wall behind. There is no chalkboard detailing what’s on the taps (or at least not one that I could see) and you have to refer to the printed sheets attached to boards, that were available on the bar and the tables.
On the ale front the options were Marble Beers Pint, Burning Sky Plateau Pale Ale, Good Chemistry Brewing Free Thinker Grapefruit Pale Ale, Meanwood Brewery New Normal Old Ale, Vocation Life and Death and Brass Castle Best Bitter. A fine lineup and the type of thing that has got the København listed in the 2024 GBG.
I didn’t study the keg list but some of the group searched out a sour and I am sure there was plenty of chicken soup available for those who like that sort of thing. I however, went for the Marble Pint and clear and delicious it was.
I was not surprised to later find out that this bar is run by the same people behind the nearby Victorian Craft Beer Cafe as, of all the newish craft beer focussed bars in Halifax, these two were my personal favourites.

Minimalistic cafe style micro with an exceptional beer list.

I'm here to visit the 5 GBG entries in town but could have done worse than stop here. Sierra Nevada Celebration, Deya and Kernal could have been sampled on keg but I went for an excellent Vocation Yorkshire Bitter on Cask.

A modern shop unit in the Westgate Arcade, the interior does have a Scandi feel, open plan on two levels with modern furniture and a bright floor with the bar to the left hand side. The star here is the beer options with six ale choices and 24 kegs lines if my maths is good. The keg selections are described on a wall mounted beer list to the left of the bar.
The barman was certainly very friendly and besides beer is happy to serve decent coffee. On my visit the real ale options were Thornbridge Jaipur,Salopian Shropshire Gold,Atom Golden Ratio,Dorking Surrey XPA,The Coven Cherry Pie High and a very decent BrewYork Calmer Chameleon (NBSS 4.5).Rightly in the 2023 GBG and should always be included in any ale tour of Town.

Modern bar in the Westgate Centre. Two rooms, downstairs is quite nicely done in a Scandi manner - laminate floor and clean lines. Attractive servery with tiled frontage and glass flight upper. Gloomy though, not a huge amount of natural light. The upstairs room is pretty meh, it's one of the oh-so-hipster half-finished jobs. Six cask and a plethora of craftykeg, 36 lines in total if my counting was right. My Anthology Extra-Hopped was a bit pedestrian (NBSS 2.5) though I was then tempted Köstritzer Schwarzbier off the keg which was worth the price. Friendly barman was good for a five minute chat about the footy. My visit was early doors on a Friday afternoon so it's probably a different beast in the evening, but I wouldn’t be swapping this for a pint at Big 6 or Pigeons. It’s run by the same people who have the Victorian Craft Beer Café a few streets away. GBG'22 listed. Rated 7.5
