We arrived here shortly before 11pm on a weekday. Their website and Facebook page states that they stay open until 1am on a Thursday. Google says midnight. In the event, neither were correct, as bar staff called for last orders and had locked the doors shortly after 11pm. So, if planning a visit here, don't rely on the publicised opening times.
I seem to recall coming here many moons back in my student days in Liverpool, when it was known as the Cabin Club. There is a ground floor bar and a basement used for gigs. It may well be that the 1am closing is only when there is a gig on.
There are no cask ales here. The keg range is all their own (possibly brewed by JW Lee's according to CAMRA) and comprised of Pale Ale, Honeycomb Pale, Smooth IPA, Irish Cream and Cider. My Honeycomb Pale was nothing special.
Being on the top corner of Bold Street opposite the bombed out church on what is a busy traffic junction, makes it a good spot for people watching. Unfortunately, one homeless woman had ventured in from the hustle and bustle and was pestering everybody in the bar for money and not taking no for an answer. Bar staff looked on without intervening. Perhaps this is a regular occurrence.
I'll undoubtedly pass this venue many times again. Maybe I'll try it again someday. But with so many other decent pubs around, it's unlikely.

What used to be the Cabin Club is now open as a 'bar, restaurant, live music venue' though I didn't see any evidence of food i.e. menus. On two, possibly three, floors. I only went in the ground floor. Sort of industrial stylings here and the bar has 4 banks of 4 taps for fizz-u-likes. To the left of the bar is a large wall-mounted neon display and behind the bar a large collection of lava lamps. No real ale and not particularly cheap. I probably will never visit again.
