Old Boots left this review about Papillon

A wait to be seated, table service, foody place. You can just have a drink, it has four pulls and two low T-bars of good Euro and mainstream UK kegs, however there is no stout; I had a very good Shropshire Gold, rather than one of the Yorkshire pair of Boltmaker or White Rat. It’s very different to other 1936 Pubco pubs nearby including the Shandon Bells next door. There’s a lot of window and plants with trailing ends. It has seating both at both ends of the roughly L shaped room with the counter being central, the seating is more formal in a dining area to the left.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Papillon

A vibrant and trendy good sized bar with further exterior seating out front and along the side street with the majority of diners taking in the sun on our recent visit. The interior had bare plaster walls and ceilings, exposed cable trays and conduit, plus lots of hanging pedant lamps. The staff were very efficient and service was fast. Four handpumps, with two in use serving Titanic Plum Porter and White Rat.

ROB Camra left this review about Papillon

Smart, modern L shaped bar, with large, girly friendly windows, which is probably why there were so many in. Pretty packed on our Sunday, early evening visit, the restaurant area was almost full. There are some barstools and high table for drinkers though. Still two cask ales available from the handpumps, White Rat and something that I've failed to note down, but it was in good nick. Ms CAMRA really liked this one, so we had a second before going down the road to Zorbas for meze.

What used to be Host is now a gastropub called Papillon. A L-shaped place which is modern and bright. Surprisingly there are 4 handpulls, of which 3 were on dispensing Rat White Rat, Salopian Shropshire Gold and Titanic Plum Porter. There are also 8 taps for fizz-u-likes but these are unbadged so you'll have to look at the blackboard to see what's on. It wasn't as expensive as I thought it was going to be. Despite the real ale it's not really aimed at real ale drinkers and It'll be interesting to see how long the cask lasts.
