This is a very small micropub with a good location just down the road from Harrogate station. Like most micropubs, it’s a shop unit conversion, but unusually, it has entrances at either end of the short, narrow premises. The servery dominates much of the room and has a nice, glazed brick counter front and a bar back painted in warm shades which matched the rest of the bare boarded room’s colour scheme, with a beer board to one side and a ladder hung above the counter, strewn with fairy lights and plastic hops. The first thing I noticed on entering was the strange seat in the front window - essentially a very low table on a raised platform surrounded by rugs that you sit on – it felt a bit Arabian or maybe South American in origin, but no one had dared to sit there when we arrived. Elsewhere, bar stools run along the servery, two tables with chairs are squeezed in past the end of the bar, and a plush sofa with a chest for a table fills the space along the back wall. Both front and back windows have pub branding and some attractive stained-glass panes across the top and the walls have been decorated with a few arty photos and a couple of pub t-shirts for sale, but for the most part remained plain. Tunes were playing quietly in the background and the whole place had more of a wine bar vibe thanks in part to the heavily muted lighting on our evening time visit.
There were two handpulls in operation, dispensing Kernel Export India Stout and Three Brothers Northern Pale, and despite having travelled all the way here from South London, I couldn’t resist trying the Stout, which turned out to be in excellent shape. Seven craft keg options and one cider helped to flesh out the options and the fridges looked like they offered a good bottle and can range. Service was friendly and aside from the aforementioned front seat, the place was just about as busy as it could get without becoming uncomfortable and impractical.
Sadly, the pub has closed since my visit, which is a shame as I thought it was a decent little bar with some excellent beer, a relaxed vibe and a cosy environment. It perhaps lacked a USP to set it apart from some of the other micropubs and craft beer bars around town, and I can imagine it becomes a little too cramped at peak times, but I enjoyed my time here and am sorry that they had to cease trading.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Disappearing Chin
Narrow, elongated micropub with an entrance at each end. Thankfully we managed to find a few seats, but these are at a premium. With only two of three handpumps in use, Roosters Capability Brown and the more local Harrogate Beeching Axe IPA (£2.50, half) were being poured, but a number of craft keg beers are also available.

I did ask the bar staff where the name Disappearing Chin came from, apparently it’s an in joke between the owner and his misses, if I remembered correctly. This is a narrow micro with a central bar counter and seating by the entrances at either end. There are three hand pumps, Rooster’s Capability Brown and Harrogate’s Beeching Axe IPA were available whilst Cold Bath’s Small Batch Blonde was off. There is also a craft keg range and cocktails are served. Some of our group sat by the Moroccan style seating in the window of the bus station side entrance, others lingered by the door wondering where we would be going next.

Unusual name for a micro pub, maybe it's something to do with when you drink a pint you can't see your chin. This place was ok when it was quiet, however maneuvering around the bar front was a bit of a nuisance, with such little space. The coloured glass in the upper part of the windows looked original and was a very nice feature. There was some sort of window seat, along with scatter cushions and an Arabic looking side table, couldn't imagine sitting in there on show, waste of space.
I went for the Roosters Capability Brown which was fine. I feel as though this pub lacked atmosphere, plus the colour scheme too dark.

A micro with street entrances at both ends,it's long and thin with a hip vibe and the large lav to the front.The bar is high and featured 6 craft keg taps with some exotic wares along with two ales Roosters Capability Brown and Harrogate Beeching Axe IPA (very good,NBSS 4).Fortunately the bar blockers on the bar stools moved on as I was ordering,it's a tight space and I was glad they left.There is a beer fridge on display and at the far end a seating shelf with an oriental very low table on top to complete the unusual feel.
If they can maintain ale quality at this standard,worth a visit when crawling the town.

A long narrow shop unit with two fronts, for some reason painted in an olive drab throughout. The bar counter runs across with many stools, while there is a sofa at each end, so not a lot of space left. Still 3 pumps and a selection of craft stuff; I went for the Burnt Mill Big Sur Porter, which was lovely and well-kept.

A very narrow bar with doors to different streets at either end. The beer choice is from 3 pulls and a range of crafty kegs. A shop conversion run by a couple of nice guys, it sports a new counter and not being an official micropub there are spirits and stuff available although there's no screens. Seating is a bit limited but that probably won't matter to its target demographic. Handy for the buses and trains if you fancy a change from the Tap or you could do both. It's also one of them places that's card sales only.

As OB says it's long and narrow and the floor is also a death trap when it's wet. No idea what had happened to the "couple of nice guys" as it was being run by an apparently personality free barmaid. That's the trouble with micros, if the staff aren't up for a chat they just don't work. We'll give it another go, but if it's the same again then that will be it for us. My pint was decent enough though.
