Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Anchor Inn

Greene King pub, restaurant and hotel in a prime position overlooking Sea Hill, with a beer garden overlooking the sea on the opposite side of the road. Furniture and decoration inside the bar side dining area and rear restaurant is 'smart traditional' and thus a bit soulless. Greene King IPA, Old Speckled Hen and Otter Ale available from the three handpumps. Reasonable food, but the bar staff were either very stressed or just plain rude.

As you can see from the photo the hotel was having a refurb when we visited. It is part of the Old English Inns chain, which is owned by Greene King. Inside there is a dining area to the left, and a central bar to the right serving various seating areas. The overall effect is a pleasing change from a single room pub, with sea views from the front. Otter Bitter and Abbot Ale on hand pump.

A large, detached hotel, cream rendered with black paintwork, on the sea front.

The interior is open plan, with a bar area and a restaurant area, served by a central bar. It had red and white walls, with wood panel. There were lots of maritime memorabilia around. It had the table and chair/sofa mixed of seating. The service was functional and the staff seemed all to be young - summer jobs maybe? The place was crowded, a mix of young 'uns, families and maturer people. There was a TV with Eurosport on and background music

Not enough beer choice and despite some trappings, it is too soulless for me. I wouldn't bother again.

Great choice of food especially fish with about a dozen dishes to choose from. Stopped serving food at 2:30 though which I thought was odd for such a prime location. I guess it's probably different in the weekends/summer.

A nice pub with a great beer garden overlooking the sea. We found the staff to be freindly and helpful.
