In what looks from the outside like an old fast-food venue, Eel & Bear is a laminate floored craft beer shop and bar with shelves stacked with craft cans up the left and right-hand walls, and a couple of beer fridges next to the serving counter against the rear wall. The three keg options during my recent late Friday afternoon visit were Pastore Double Crema Dream Cake at 7%, Polly’s Truck Bed at 6% and the one I opted for, Two Flints Never End at 4.8% which was £4.75 for two thirds, pints not being available. It was ok. I sat at the stool lined beer shelf that runs across the front window and the only other customer, a local, was sat at one of the two high tables in the centre of the room. The music was depressing and there was no atmosphere because the other customer was glued to his phone and the owner was sat at the counter while he stared into his laptop. This isn’t somewhere I’ll be revisiting.
