Strongers . left this review about The Walrus
I thought the Walrus was closed as I approached, but walking around the corner I found that an extension on the rear was open. Inside is a dancefloor, and a stage on the rear wall that faces the entrance. Banquette seating runs around the exterior walls and the bar is along the front to the right of the entrance. I spotted a rolled up projector and sports is advertised, as is student discount. A disco ball above the dance floor blinded me every now and again with light directly in the eye. The music was from the 1980’s, which I quite liked.
Available from the bar was standard keg alongside Birra Moretti and two hand pumps stood unused. The barman was polite and took his time to explain that the main pub is normally closed, opening only for functions and at very busy times in the summer. There was one other customer, a rather miserable and rude middle aged fat git. He was sat at the bar nursing a pint with a large shopping bag, I think he may have been homeless. My visit was early afternoon so I made my escape before the place filled up with students, and probably grannies.

Under new ownership from 2009, The Walrus has been redesigned and offering a wide and varied food menu. I'd recommend the steaks :).
Live bands on Friday's are pretty good.
