A small square modern unit to one side of the covered market, the internal door to the loos opens into the market with the communal lavs a few yards away.
The welcome was friendly and chatty and the two handpumps were drawing North Riding Mosaic Pale (NBSS 4) and Love High Fives. The 10 keg taps were drawing some interesting and challenging brews which on my next visit I will have a go at.
The barman was happy for folk to bring in food from stall holders and consume in the bar.
It's quite small and the Pubsgalore crawl did fill it up,the large plate glass windows helped swell the attendance to this unscheduled stop ,as it's obvious from outside who is inside.Well worth popping in on any crawl.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Orchard
Micro-pub located in one corner of the covered part of the modern Market Hall. Full-height windows on two sides and light wood-panelling on the others. Just a pair of small high tables inside, a couple of beer-barrel tables in a partitioned area under the main Covered Market roof and a few more outside on the pavement. Three real ales on handpump - Prohibition APA and Karma Sitra from Wily Fox plus Beach House from Rivington (£3.20) - together with an interesting selection of ten craft keg options from taps on the bar-back.

Micro bar, in fact a microscopic bar in the new market complex. Has been extremely friendly when I have been in with staff and customers always happy to chat.

A decent enough modern style bar with two handpumps and a range of ten craft keg beers located from a small bar at the rear. Wishbone Flux and Goffs English Pale was the cask choice on our visit. Things were going ok, along with a couple of fellow drinkers, until a Granny brought in her two granddaughters dressed as fairies who ran around the place screaming and hitting us all with their wands. The barman didn't say a word, so the Granny sat there with a pint of craft lager, oblivious to the carry on. Unfortunately the kid's wands didn't make themselves disappear, only us adults.

This microbar is situated in the new market hall but unlike some market hall bars this can be visited when the market has closed. There was 2 cask beers on offer plus on the back wall behind the bar 10 craft ales on tap.On the left is a blackboard displaying the breweries, beers and strengths of the craft beers. There is also an option of you sampling a third of a pint.
Opening hours Sun till Thurs 12 till 10pm Friday and Sat 12 till 11pm
