Will Larter left this review about The Copper Room

I'd taken a photo of this pub on my way through Stamford, minutes after alighting at the station, and gave it no further thought until two locals, cask beer drinkers of a similar age to myself, suggested it to me as a wild card during a conversation at the Tobie Norris. On arrival I did a bit of a double take, as there are no hand pumps, but the owner assured me that the two beers from Bakers Dozen, a local brewery, were live beers in membrane kegs. This is all fine and dandy, as I sometimes mention to CAMRA members who support this method of dispense, but if the things a drinker likes about cask beer include the warmer-than-keg-beer temperature, and the less-gassy-than-keg-beer mouth feel, then why would that drinker want to drink a beer that maintains fermentation in its bag-in-a-keg and is never vented, and then served at well below 10 Celsius? My main enjoyment of my visit came from having a chat with the owner about why The Who were a much better band than the Rolling Stones. He managed to avoid yawning, so top marks to him. The beer (Acoustic Landlady 3.8%, a lower strength version of their Electric Landlady 5%) was £6.30/pint and gets a zero for "no cask available here".

Limited opening hours, those on WhatPub are wrong, Facebook has it right, so I couldn’t get in but it looked to have a reasonable range of crafty kegs.
