Will Larter left this review about The Invercauld Arms Hotel
This fine old hotel is one of those pubs that maybe takes a bit of getting used to, with so much choice in terms of where to sit, none of them seemingly all that comfortable. The bar is situated in a dining room, down a corridor to the left on entering, but there are sitting areas near the hotel reception, and maybe others too; I settled for the tables outside in the evening sunshine. There were two hand pumps, but Cairngorm Trade Winds proved to be off when poured, so I went for the alternative rather than wait for a new barrel.
The hotel appeared to be occupied by groups of tourists, mostly German from what I could hear. Soon after I took my seat those of us sitting outside were lucky enough to be able to hear the Scottish accordion music that was being provided inside the hotel for the delectation of the guests. I was soon regretting having ordered a pint rather than a half of Cairngorm Sheepshaggers Gold (not sure I've ever had a really good beer from this brewery) and before long the combination of bland beer and Scottish accordion music became too much for me, and I was on my way to the Moorfield House instead.
