A place to sit and watch the gentrification of this area of the city - with building work going on more or less everywhere.
I saw Higsons advertised on the side of an earlier building - and this brewery has resurrected the brand.
A rather large open space, with the brewing going on behind glass. An attempt to make it pubby, with a pool table and a dartboard.
I went for a New England IPA once I got the attention of a very bored bar person who ignored me for an age whilst she continued her text message conversation.
Some tables outside. If you can stand the building work noise.

I'm sure this place has expanded since my last visit in 2018. The brewery tap for Love Lane (and also their Higson's subsidiary), seating is spread over a couple of levels. There is outdoor seating on the pavement too. A lift will take you up to the toilets on the second floor.
Despite a bank of four handpulls, real ale is no longer served. However, one was clipped with Lilley's Rhubarb Cider. Craft beers were Love Lane Pale, New England IPA, Baltic Haze & Baltic Porter & Brooklyn Defender IPA. For some reason, the stronger beers are only sold in schooners. I recall it being £6 for my 2/3 of Porter, which was very nice.
It's one of those places where you are shown to a table. Going to the bar is also frowned upon. So you have to rely on waitress service.

Four hand pulls for cask, but sadly all were out of operating and the beer menu listed "coming soon" on the cask section. One of the pumps was clipped but turned round, so would suggest it had been in use, or was about to come into use, thereby offering a glimmer of hope for cask fans. 14 keg taps with several of their own beers available, supplemented by various cans in the fridges.
A smart modern bar with plenty of indoor seating. There was also a mezzanine level, which I did not investigate.
We only stayed for one as we were keen to try a few different places, but no issue with the New England IPA I had.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Love Lane Brewery Bar
Love Lane Brewery started as a micro brewery in a railway arch in Vauxhall L3, so this brewery has certainly come a long way to these premises they now occupy. I found the staff in here to be very friendly and helpful and I spent some time chatting to them at the bar. Three ales on handpump and I tried them all. The line up was Higsons Session Pale Ale 3.9%, Higsons Porter 4.5%, Love Lane Baltic Porter 6%, all of which were fab. There was also a collection of 14 keg taps along the back wall serving 9 Love Lane beers and 5 guest. The toilets were a bit of a hike up three floors, or you can use the lift. Looking forward to a return visit.

Now called Love Lane Brewery Bar And Kitchen.
18/12/17:
Set within a brewery warehouse this is from a newly reborn Higsons brand. Thankfully the beer isn't as awful as its predecessor. The place consists of a single large room with some seating up some steps to a mezzanine level. The interior is industrial with exposed piping and ventilation ducts above. To the back of the building the brewing kit is displayed behind glass. There are 2 serveries with a small bar as you enter, unused on this visit. The main servery has just 2 handpumps that dispense Higsons Pale and Higsons Amber. There are 14 wall mounted taps behind the bar for crafty beers.
