A nice little micro in a strange 1930s building which houses a string of bars, mostly weekend late spots but this one opens through the week. It has the usual industrial-type tables and counter with a couple of beer fridges, 4 handpumps and 8 or so wall taps, not all in use. In fact the cask ales on were 3 Brothers Waste Not Want Not, Gainsborough Willow and Durham Dray Wheels, with a long list of Coming Soon on the wall. They have taken over the unit next door, which acts as an overspill at busy times or is available for functions. The beer was in very good shape with a nice friendly landlord. Recommended.

A decent small micro in an arcade alongside some less inspiring bars, it has three pulls but they double up the clips so there can be four, five or six cask beers, a blackboard by the door and another at the end of the counter puts you right. There are 10 keg taps and a fridge of goodies. Unreal ciders are also available, these are listed on a blackboard towards the rear. Bench seating down one side and in the front window, the counter is to the right and of course there’s pump clip decor. There’s a room to the right called The Turtle Lounge but it was in use for a private function. Interesting clock on the wall opposite the counter.
