This is a nice looking village pub built in local stone and standing back a little from the quiet road through this even quieter village in the quiet part of Cumbria that is not really pretty enough to attract tourists. It's much larger inside than might be expected, with three or four smaller rooms opened out into one space, and another room built onto the back. The bar is small by comparison, with three hand pumps. The beers are local (or localish in the case of Cross Bay, Morecambe) - see photo. I went for the Carlisle Cumbrian Bitter rather than the blonde beer that is brewed for this pub at the Brackenrigg near Ullswater. I thought it was quite pleasant here, and the beer was in reasonable nick, but it was pretty quiet for a Sunday afternoon.
