In the basement of the Hilton Hotel, and including an outside seating area, this small oasis of calm makes for a pleasant place to sit away from the tourist and student populations. It’s a bonus that you can enter straight away without having to transit through the main hotel. The staff are helpful, and food is reasonable if a little pricey, but the whole is ruined by not just an absence of real ale or cider, but the absence of anything even remotely resembling a decent drink. OK if you’re passing, but it’s not somewhere to spend an evening’s drinking.
