David Ross left this review about Eglinton Bar
A lovely old, traditional style pub, this is the only one in the affluent village of Skelmorlie. It comprises a small bar containing the service area, a slightly larger lounge to the side and two other rooms at the rear. There is lots of wood panelling, shelves stacked with crockery and other knick knacs and old village pictures. The clientele was mostly middle aged on the Saturday night of my visit and, unusually for any pub nowadays, there was no TV or music. A pint of Tennent's lager cost me £3.25 and Stella Artois, Guinness, John Smith's, Caledonia Best, Tennent's light and Magner's cider were also on draught. The Eglinton isn't easy to find, as it isn't advertised elsewhere in the village, but is well worth a visit if you're in the area.
