A community owned bar in the village sports pavilion, now the only pub in the village. It sits at one end of the village sports pitches and has superb views over said pitches and the countryside around. There are seats all around the building, and there is ample parking by the nearby village hall. The bar consists of a single room with a serving hatch to the servery and cellar, and there are picture windows on three sides. A dartboard is at one side though this was unused when we visited, while the furniture consisted of tables made from barrels, and wooden chairs branded with the pub logo. At the entrance was a pizza van which was providing warm food. Although this is very much a facility for locals, we didn’t feel out of place or unwelcome. There were three real ales gravity fed from stillage in the servery – Remedy Oak’s Golden Rooster, Rude Giant Juicy IPA and Hattie Brown’s Agglestone, all fresh and in perfect condition. Four real ciders from Cranborne Chase were also available, Vintage, Sweet, Medium and Dry. The solitary keg lager was Carlsberg. It’s main flaw is limited opening times, but it’s definitely worth a visit.
