Micro in an odd little building (converted WC or electricity substation building?), majoring on craft with just a single cask on, Lincoln Green Easy Does It, from a cool-jacketed stillage and given the heat it passed muster (NBSS 3) - the landlord was good enough to enquire if it was cool enough. The six craftykeg had a good range across styles. Interior is classic micro, high fixed perimeter seating and high stools, white walls with some green wood panelling along with some downbeat music; not particularly alluring so I popped outside to the small seating area out front. Card payment only and GBG listed. 6.5

This is a friendly little (and I do mean little) bar. Or to be absolutely precise, pair of bars, as a basement room is also opened up at busy periods. My visit fortunately coincided with a Duration Brewery tap take over, so I had a choice of loads of their quality keg offerings in addition to Thornbridge Brother Rabbit - the sole cask ale, served from a jacketed cask adjacent to the bar.

The West Road Tap is a likeable micro; the limited cask offer may deter some folk, but the craft keg was better priced (at around £4 the 2/3) than in most bars I've encountered.
