A larger than average micropub, with a bit of character and eccentricity about it. The bar is on the right, with six hand pumps (see photos) with beers from mostly local breweries. Furniture was made from slices of trees, retaining the original contours but finished with varnish (some items are for sale). Plenty of old pub notices, too. There was a good atmosphere on our Saturday afternoon visit, and the beer was in good nick as well.

Two entrances at the front to an L-shaped room with the bar at the right rear. Five or six real ales with a good selection. We sat outside in the sun. Would return to this one.

An excellent Micro pub, with well planned out seating space and lots of interesting naturally shaped timber furniture and timber sculptures. The pub also had a relaxed and laid back atmosphere and the owners were also pleasant and engaging. Six ales on handpump, so we went for the Shiny Brewery Disco Balls and Totally Brewed Fruits of the Forest. The walls were painted in a dark grey colour, which I liked and another feature was the coat hanger, sourced from a small pine tree. A slight downside was that the pub only opens 4 days a week and 5pm on a Friday.

Roots Emporium Is a brand new Micro pub that opened just before Christmas. Situated on the main road as you enter from Nottingham and a 3 minute walk on from the stag. The pub is very cosy inside and had loads of tables and chairs as well and comfyt6 benches. All the tables were carved out of wood and there were lots of wooden chairs and sculptures that was different but a nice change from the norm .The pub was very modern in feel but not in a tacky way and the large crowd that was in gave it a really good atmosphere. This was larger than most micro pubs and stretched around the bar further and I believe there was more space than I got so see. The bar is located around the corner as you enter and Is a basic flat pack affair, the beers on sale luckily were nothing of the sort. On my visit the available beers over six hand pulls were Abstract Jungle Casual, Leatherbitches Leather Helmet, Shiny Pale, One from Tiny Rebel and Oakham Ales Scarlet McCaw. The Scarlet Mccaw at £3.10 was in super shape and a good price. This was a real surprise as it was so new it was not even on Pubs galore yet and we stumbled by it by accident and it was a great addition. Overall it is a great pub and puts its own twist on the micro pub concept and makes it more female friendly and more of an evening venue that I Thought worked rather well. My only gripe is the lion’s share of beers all seemed to be hoppy pales but that’s not the end of the world, absolutely worth a visit.
