Real Ale Ray left this review about Wig's Place
This micro was named Wig's Place after the owner Mark, who had a mad looking haircut, when he was in various bands around the late 70's and early 80's. This micro has a small main room and bar on the corner, with a small snug on the left of entrance. This is very much a locals pub, and is highly respected as the other couple of pubs in the village are now all closed. The interior of the pub is pretty much made of recycled materials, the bench seating is made from railway sleepers and most of the timbers and the bar area are all collected as waste from local joiners and builders.
Four ales on handpump and a choice of 7 ciders, all the ciders were priced at £3.50 a pint including the 7.2%. Ale wise, they had a Grey Hawk Best Bitter, Cullercoats Lovely Nelly, Fireside Toon Blonde and Rigg and Furrow Trickster. I favoured the Rigg and Furrow Trickster and stayed for a few pints. There was also some retro beer signs on the walls and a couple of framed beer mat displays. The pub was formerly the local post office.
