No cask. Basic keg offering of Madri, Asahi, Guinness, Camden Hells and Neck Oil.

Interesting hotel bar, but sadly not for the beer options. There is an island bar with a zinc bar countertop and tall stool seating at various points around the counter. The bar is bare boarded and there are regular tables and chairs, and a few nooks and crannies to sit in. Walls are bare brick, and lighting is quite ambient with a very background soundtrack. There is ample picnic bench style seating and patio style furniture at the front on a paved area, which also boasts a craft beer bar with seating inside in various configurations in a prefabricated building. The craft beer bar added two from East London Brew Co to the mundane offering in the main hotel bar, being the East End lager and the Lido pale ale. Good one to tick off but unlikely to return.

What can I say - a pub or should I say hotel, with distinct character! Local novelty value - Alfred Hitchcock was born in the area, the son of a butcher (1899.) My mother has enjoyed many of his films. I have only had the occasional pint in passing, but enjoyed the experience none the less! Nice greenery opposite if you want a leisurely walk afterwards. Thanks...

Set back from Whipps Cross road and part of a terrace, this is named after Leytonstone's most famous son and predictably has plenty of paraphernalia regaling his illustrious directorial career. Accessed up a flight of stairs, it's all very woody and bricky inside and a small corridor and a left-hand turn bring you to the narrow bar area (the bar is on the left) which L-shaped around the to the left again, with a further cosy room located behind the bar with a large bay window overlooking the road and the Epping Forest common opposite. A function room is located opposite the bar and appears to be a newish addition - almost as if a terrace had been roofed over. The sole real ale was Sharp's Doom Bar Amber on two handpumps. A dining area is located to the right-hand side of the building and there was much fanfare about their Sunday roasts, available at £10 a pop. Hardly a destination venue, but if you're into your films, you might consider sticking your head through the door if anything.
