Strongers . left this review about The Strand

After a couple of very disappointing local visits, I was happy to find the Strand that is apparently housed in an old jewellery shop, so I’m not sure why the are tobacconist signs in the windows. These floor to ceiling windows each have a beer shelf with stools across their length, and a sign in the door says, “If You’re Barred, You’re Still Barred No Matter How Long Ago It Was”, which I think says a lot about this less salubrious area of Stoke. There’s a brown banquette up the right hand-wall to the bar area where a traditional wooden serving counter faces more seating up the right-hand wall. The flooring is red tiled throughout and at the rear are a couple of brown curved banquettes each around a table. There was some background music playing, no pop, and the locals and barman all seemed nice enough. On the counter four of the six hand pumps were in use drawing Burton Bridge’s Bitter, Facer’s Brewery’s Abbey Red, Wincle Beer Co’s Bad Bill and Seacider. I liked it in here and it would certainly be the choice if I found myself in the centre of Longton again.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Strand

Quite liked this pub, full of local characters on our Saturday afternoon visit. All of which were friendly and having some good banter with the barman. This pub has been finished to a high standard, with a very elaborate oak bar, chocolate brown buttoned bench seating, fireplace mid centre opposite the bar, along with a reclaimed church pew and lots of expensive looking wall and ceiling lamps. Seven handpumps on our visit, five ales and two ciders. We went for the Swan Brewery Old Swan at £3 a pint, which was in excellent condition.
